Possums are a native animal to Australia, relocating possums is not only illegal, its inhumane. For possums eating small plants and vegetables, there is product call Poss Off this product can work but needs to be used regularly especially in wet seasons.
For trying to scare away possums we have seen some success in the use of fake owls (Owl is possums most common predator). This can work but don't settle for a solid plastic owl shaped piece. You need something with moving parts or glowing eyes or flapping wings. Possums aren't as stupid as you think.
Tree trimming is effective for keeping possums off your roof but don't waste money if there is a garage, pergola, fence or anything climbable right next to the house—combine it with other possum deterrents for better results. They will likely just move to another access option and you have lost a tree for no reason. We can carry out tree trimming if you think its worth your while.
Low voltage electric fences are a strange option but have had some success keeping possums off fence lines. They only work in rare cases so send us some pictures of your fence before you consider this option. We can install these for you.
Sonic repellers are fairly effective if you get the right one. They often work in a targeted area but not for large spaces. Multiple units may work but we have seen possums get around them to get to their favourite feed.
Tree wrapping is a good option but only for stand alone trees or tree groups. Basically there is no use wrapping a tree if they can access the same tree via another tree roof or fence. Send some pics and we can help you decide if its worth trying.
Power line deterrents can reduce possum activity on your building and we can help with this but trees and cables need to be away from buildings or other trees in order for this to help.
